Just start
Are you considering starting your own business? Don't overthink it and just start!
It's better to start somewhere and make adjustments along the way than to endlessly think about details that are probably not that important.
Last year I started my coaching practice after working in the corporate world for many years. What I most loved about my previous roles in sales management were coaching my colleagues and guiding their professional growth.
I decided to take that to another level and started my own business.
I wasn't clear on the type of clients I wanted to work with. I just wanted to start and hone my craft. I studied everything that I could find on this.
My first clients came from my direct network. I supported someone who transitioned into a new career, and another faced certain leadership challenges. I really enjoyed it and I learned heaps.
Soon I realized that I love working with people whose main focus is creating a better future. I adjusted my branding a bit and switched from Dutch to English in all of my communication.
Now I'm working with extraordinary female leaders in the sustainability field, which is very exciting. I've been learning a lot about what it takes to be impactful as an environmentalist. What are the needed skillsets and mindsets in order to create change?
My clients inspire me to work on ideas like creating workshops and (online) training programs on this subject. It's work in progress and I will keep you posted on this!
This whole journey has been an ongoing process of exploring new ideas and testing them. Did I ever have doubts? You bet! Have I ever felt insecure during the process? Sure thing! And at the same time I feel that I'm going in the right direction. And the positive feedback gives me extra energy to keep going!
Just start.
